A sport that falls into the category of boules and lawn bowls, where teams play their balls towards a target ball. In Petanque the object is to score points by having your balls closer to the target than your opponent after all balls have been thrown (that’s fairly obvious isn’t it).

The game is often played in hard ground or gravel. The current form of the game originated in Frances around 1910.

As with all games at Stone the Crows Festival, it is a game of skill, not total athletic ability, taking into account our age demographic and mobility.

The rules for Petanque can be found here

How to play Petanque sessions will be held on Friday afternoon after all our flock have arrived to nest at the ACTA grounds.

Results of 2019 competition for Petanque mixed triples

Winners – Sparrow Farts (Frank Sainsbury/Rodney Jones/Jean Gooden)
Runners up – Bob’s Mob (Roger Gooden/John Alexander/Bob Thomas)

Well done to all the players, scorers and umpires on another great games session.
