There was a caw-caw-up last night and the Chief Crows decided that they would extend the early bird registration till Sunday March 6 because some people had been asking could their friends still book and get the early bird discount. So if you know someone who wants to join the flock for a lot of fun and camaraderie, get them to put your name somewhere on their form so they qualify for the early bird discount. We are very intelligent birds, us crows, and we do try to accommodate as many reasonable requests as possible. So, it's up to you to tell your mates. Probably best to email or phone to make sure your paperwork is done asap.
The gathering of the flock is getting really close now. We are finding Australia Post is so slow we have decided not to post any more Squawkers' Permits - only email (plus the fact that the admin team will be heading to CrowLand before the main flock flies in). If you don't have email, once your payment has been processed, you will be given your site number by phone text. Your site number and your name will be all that is needed when you come to the gate. You will be on the database.
The Gumly General Store will be assisting through the provision of milk, bread, newspapers and ice on a regular basis throughout the Festival. You will need to pre-pay and order your items through the Crows Nest Information Desk by 3 pm each day for delivery the following day, except Good Friday. Delivery will be the following morning around 10 am, so pick it up from the clubhouse on your way home after the morning show.
With help from Bolinda AudioBooks we will have a great selection of Aussie fiction and non-fiction books as well as some children's titles (for those grandparents who still like to be involved in a special way). There will also be some give-aways for you to try and win. You can choose from single MP3 CDs or multi packs. All will be available from the Crows Nest Merchandise Desk. I've been listening to the Dressmaker (while doing that horrid job ironing) and am very impressed.
On Wednesday night the Wagga Mens Choir will serenade us with their dulcet tones. If you would like to participate in the renewal of vows ceremony which follows, it would be appreciated if you could let us know so that the appropriate certificates to commemorate the occasion can be organised. The service will be suitable for all couples. Then Jim will be doing a special quiz to see how well you really know your partner after however many years you have been together. Could be bouquets or could be brickbats - we will have to wait and see.
Games schedule - Petanque on Wednesday, Australian Disc Bowls Championships will start early each morning on Thursday/Friday/Saturday, Ladder Golf on Saturday, gReyVee Disc Bowls on Sunday (this is a competition counting towards the gReyVee awards, is separate to the Championship games and players who reach quarter finals of the Championships are asked not to enter to give the less experienced players a chance - we hope you think this is fair).
Monday mid-morning will see the games finals of Petanque, the singles, mixed doubles and mixed triples of the Disc Bowls Championships, Ladder Golf, and mixed triples of the gReyVee disc bowls.
Our signature event, the Stoning the Crows will follow at approximately 2 pm.
For those going to the John O'Brien Festival at Narrandera before coming to join the rest of the flock, please remember that wristbands and tickets for catered events MUST be purchased by March 14. Tickets for uncatered events will still be available and entry to these events can be paid at the door.
